Chloride (High Range) Pre-Dosed Reagent Set (13 mm Vial with Barcode) – HI-96794-25
HI-96794-25 Chloride High Range is a kit of pre-dosed reagents in vials for the determination of Chloride. There are 25 vials to be used with Hanna’s HI-801 and HI-802 spectrophotometers as well as HI-83399 and HI-83314 COD photometers. These high-quality reagents are manufactured in our state-of-the-art facility and are clearly marked with the lot number and expiration date for traceability.
The method used is an adaptation of Mercury Thiocyanate Method. One of the key advantages of this method is the reagent formulation, which is free from methanol. This ensures greater operator safety compared to alternative methods, as it reduces exposure to toxic substances during testing.
Each reagent box is supplied with Certificate of Analysis. An important advantage of the HI-96794-25 is that vials can be stored at room temperature, avoiding the inconvenience of having to store them in the refrigerator, saving lab space and simplifying handling. Unlike competitor vials, Hanna reagents are always ready to use, eliminating waiting time to reach room temperature and making analyses faster and more efficient.
Furthermore, the reagents have a shelf life of two years. The procedure involves the use of 13 mm (internal diameter) cuvettes, with a longer optical path than many other vials on the market. This ensures accurate absorbance measurements and greater repeatability of results.
Significance of use
Chloride analysis is essential for evaluating water quality and ensuring compliance with discharge regulations. In wastewater, chloride concentration is strictly regulated in every country, as excessive levels can harm aquatic ecosystems and affect downstream water use.
Industrial effluents often contain chlorides due to the use of ferric or aluminium polychloride as coagulants during treatment.
In addition, chlorides are known to interfere with the measurement of key parameters such as Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), making their accurate determination crucial for reliable water quality monitoring. Regular testing supports compliance, process optimisation, and environmental protection.
