Hanna Instruments-93703-55 Activated Carbon packets are for use with Hanna’s Hanna Instruments-83225 & Hanna Instruments-83325 Nutrient Analysis benchtop photometer. These packets are for sample preparation of irrigation water to remove colour or turbidity. These easy to use packets ensure the proper amount of activated carbon is added to prepare the sample.

Making sure that there is no colour or turbidity is present in a sample is important in colorimetric measurements. Colour and turbidity interfere with the transmittance of light through the sample and can lead to inaccurate readings if not removed. The activated carbon removes these interferences allowing for accurate measurements.

Tip for an accurate measurement


It is important that the sample does not contain any debris.


When the cuvette is placed into the measurement cell, it must be dry outside and completely free of fingerprints, oil or dirt. Wipe it thoroughly with Hanna Instruments-731318 or a lint-free cloth prior to insertion.


Shaking the cuvette can generate bubbles, causing higher readings. To obtain accurate measurements, remove such bubbles by swirling or by gently tapping the cuvette.


Do not let the reacted sample stand for too long after reagent is added, or accuracy will be lost.


After the reading, it is important to discard the sample immediately, otherwise the glass might become permanently stained.
